Hey guys, I'm a beginner kayak fisherman

Hey guys I'm a beginner fishermen looking to learn more about the sport and I'm also really keen to get out on the water with others from the forum. I'm a saltwater fisherman and I really want to start going on offshore trips but when I go out a couple hundred meters by myself it gets a bit sketchy. At the age of 16 I can't really afford a nice hobie fishing kayak as I'm saving up for a car, so at the moment I'm rocking a lifetime tamarack fishing kayak. Can't wait to get on the water and start catching some monsters.

Welcome mate.
Plenty of monsters not far from shore. Do yourself a favour though and be sure you are very familiar with and comfortable in your vessel before targeting them.
It's a whole different ballgame catching fish from a light, not so stable vessel but awesome fun when you do!
Get into it. Try to join others when they're heading out, you'll learn heaps, but more importantly, it's safer.

Geday Dono. Welcome to the Obsession .. Where are you living ? South / North of river ? Plenty of regulars here to tag along with . Grab some squid jigs and try close to shore for starters . Look for broken weed / sandy patches . Hope you have a PFD !

Hi DONO. You're starting at the right age that's for sure. I think the other guys have mentioned the main things to look at first, inluding safety ;) Happy yak fishing!
